With the hours of daylight getting longer, we started moving the seedling, plant starts from the basement, grow room and into the high tunnel. Our grow room was over flowing with organic, heirloom herbs and vegetables. Most herbs are slow growing and take a long time to germinate.  So, we started some of the in January this year, followed by certain varieties of flowers.

Our high tunnel is 72 feet long and 32 feet wide and is oriented in an east to west because of the high winds of the Bitterroot- Selway mountain range. it has eight rows of fifty foot long beds, a potting area, washing station and walk in cooler.

This last weekend, we planted and seeded most of the greenhouse with all certified heirloom seeds and plant starts. Tomatoes, peppers, peas, bok choy, salad mixes, carrots, swiss chard and strawberries. We also seeded a few hundred winter sensitive vegetables, yellow and green zucchini, watermelons and about ten varieties of pumpkins.  Our overnight temperatures are still about 30-34F and daytime it can get up to about 60F.
